[Dalian News] Since the onset of summer, Dalian has experienced a series of scorching heatwaves, causing indoor workshop temperatures to rise sharply. At Dalian Bohai Rubber & Plastics Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Bohai Rubber”), some frontline production positions have faced temporary staffing shortages due to employees taking leave amid the extreme heat, posing a significant challenge to the company’s already tight production and delivery schedules.
Faced with the dual challenges of scorching heat and staffing shortages, Bohai Rubber’s management responded swiftly, issuing a call to “decentralize management and have all employees cover shifts.” Mid-level managers and office staff alike stepped out of their air-conditioned cubicles, donned work uniforms and protective gear, and took up frontline roles in the molding and vulcanization processes. Throughout the factory workshops, it was common to see white-collar workers transforming into blue-collar workers.
Standing in for production staff is no mere formality. Before taking up their posts, the team’s technical experts provided brief but rigorous safety and operational training, ensuring that every step of the process adheres to established standards. Although office staff do not come from a production background, they make up for their lack of experience with meticulous attention to detail—proactively taking on tedious production tasks and striving to “step in effectively, perform well, and avoid mistakes.”
“Order deadlines wait for no one, and customer trust must never be let down,” said a mid-level manager who took on an on‑the‑job assignment. It is precisely this sense of responsibility that has enabled the company, even amid staffing shortages, to deliver multiple batches of automotive rubber components on time, while maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
This on-the-job deployment not only ensured timely product delivery but also bridged the gap between management and the front line.
