The main function of the excavator's intake pipe is to increase the engine's output power, providing greater power to the main pump, thereby enabling the excavator to achieve higher work efficiency.

 

The intake pipe is one of the most distinct structural components between electronically controlled fuel injection engines and carbureted engines. Since only air flows through the intake pipe in electronic fuel injection engines, the dynamic effects (inertia effect and fluctuation effect) of the intake pipe should be fully considered during its structural design to improve charging efficiency, and the uniformity of intake should also be taken into account. In practical applications, there are intake pipes designed with specific lengths utilizing the inertia and fluctuation effects at certain speed ranges, as well as variable-length intake pipes. Among the structural parameters of the intake manifold, the main structural parameter that determines the impact of the fluctuation effect on intake is the length of the intake manifold. To ensure the utilization of the fluctuation effect, a sufficiently large pressure stabilization chamber volume should be maintained. The main parameters of the intake pipe affecting the engine's intake performance can be summarized as follows:1) The diameter of the intake pipe inlet determines the total intake volume, which is determined based on the throttle diameter. (2) The diameter of the intake manifold determines the intake volume for each cylinder, which is determined based on the inlet diameter of the intake passage. (3) The length of the intake manifold affects the role of dynamic effects. In the optimization calculations of the intake pipe, it is treated as a target parameter for optimization. (4) The volume of the pressure stabilization chamber affects the fluctuation (resonance) effect. A suitable volume of the pressure stabilization chamber can not only utilize the fluctuation effect to improve charging efficiency but also maintain a relatively stable pressure environment within the chamber, providing good conditions for utilizing dynamic effects, while eliminating mutual interference of intake among cylinders and improving intake uniformity. (5) The direction of the intake port affects intake uniformity. Through the analysis of various factors, the optimization target parameters for the intake pipe optimization calculations are determined to be the length of the intake manifold and the equivalent diameter of the pressure stabilization chamber.
